BIOGRAPHY
Edward played in defence where he was a steady, consistent performer. Recruited from Fitzroy, he served as Richmond’s vice captain in 1912 and 1913. He captained the side for part of the 1912 season, when the regular captain Ted Ohlson, was injured. He retired prematurely to run his own business.
A member of the Civil Service Rowing Club in 1913 he rowed in Sale and Bairnsdale regattas and as One of the best oarsman on the river, won the Upper Yarra Regatta in 1913. In the preseason of 1913 he had 'filled out considerably' and made 'splendid muscle development - a tribute to the rowing as an exercise'. He represented Victoria in Rowing in 1926 and was still rowing in 1954.
