BIOGRAPHY
Tom played mainly as a half-forward. He joined Richmond from the local area and worked his way up from the Thirds, making an inauspicious debut against North Melbourne in 1949, when he kicked 12 points without scoring a goal. He spent just over five seasons with Richmond before crossing to Box Hill and then Port Melbourne. In 1957 Tom commenced his coaching career which saw him go on to land seven Premierships over a 30 year period. He also coached the Victorian Schoolboys. Tom had outstanding success while coaching essex Heights, the then Richmond Fourths. He tutored at least 20 players who later went on to play senior football with Richmond, as well as winning five Premierships. Tom served as President of the Richmond Former Players and Officials from 1986 to xxx. Prior to that, he was Secretary between 1967 and 1985. He is a Life Member of the Richmond Football Club and the AFL/VFL Past Players Association. Away from football Tom was a schoolteacher.
