BIOGRAPHY
A forward from Cheltenham F.C who played in pre-season matches of 1908 and was often named in squads for early matches. His only senior game was Richmond's 1908 Rd 8 match vs Carlton.
He lied about his age (took off 12 years!) when enlisting for WW2 service , and served as a Staff Sergeant.
His death, despite being a year or so after the end of WW2, is recorded with a Roll of Honour card at the State Library, meaning he is documented as a player who died On Active Service.
His senior game was discovered in late 2018 by Rhett Bartlett. Prior to that, Walter's Rd 8 match had been credited to Alex Johnston.
