BIOGRAPHY
Will Thursfield was born in Oxford , England and moved to Australia at 3 years of age . Will attended high school years at Brighton
Grammar and played with the 1 st XV111. Will played for Ormond and then Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup and was appointed vice captain of the U/18 team. Richmond drafted Will with pick 1 in the 2005 AFL Rookie Draft and he played his first senior game with Richmond in Round 14, 2005 against Sydney. Will played 77 senior games with the Tigers from 2005 to 2011and was a very hard working and courageous defender . Will was restricted to one senior game in 2006 by torn cruciate and medial ligaments in his left knee , after an accidental clash with Lenny Hayes in Round 2 against St Kilda. The impact of the injury and rehabilitation delayed his return to the senior team until Round 8, 2007 , with him playing the last 15 senior games of the season . Will played 18 games in 2008 but between 2009 and 2011 he wasn’t able to secure a regular place in the senior team . Will retired from AFL football at the end of 2011. Post Richmond Will coached Gippsland League club , Leongatha and did some part time coaching at Northern Knights TAC Cup team. Will returned to Richmond in 2018 to work in recruiting.
